Copyediting is a thorough editing stage that seeks to improve writing through emphasizing clarity, confirming adherence to industry standards or citation styles, and looking at overall content. Copyediting can be done in collaborative stages where the editor provides feedback and prompting questions for the author. The author can then implement the feedback and choose to send along an updated version for further copyediting.

Proofreading is often the final editing step to fix minor mechanical errors. During the proofreading stage, I'll only be looking for typos, correct spelling, grammatical errors, punctuation, and any small-scale edits in preparation for sending your work for final publication. 

Choosing the Right Service

If you're seeking thorough edits on the content of your writing, copyediting may be the right service for you. 

If you're seeking only minimal edits or a final read-through, proofreading may be the right service for you.

Since copyediting requires more time and effort than proofreading, the price and time needed for copyediting will be increased in comparison to proofreading.

Copyediting costs $0.015 per word and requires a timeframe of 2-4 weeks to complete (timeframe may be shorter or longer depending on word count and amount of copyediting needed). 

Proofreading costs $0.025 per word and requires a timeframe of 1-2 weeks to complete (timeframe may be shorter or longer depending on word count and amount of copyediting needed).

Copyediting and proofreading fees can be paid via Paypal, Zelle, or Venmo. Services must be paid half at start and half at completion.
